How does the battery last 6+ months?
The e-ink display (the same tech as a Kindle) only draws power when the image changes, so a single USB-C charge lasts 6+ months of normal use.
How does Swellframe forecast the surf?
We pull live data from ocean buoys, satellites, and global weather models, then apply four physics-based corrections (continental shelf, swell period shoaling, break type, and per-spot calibration) to turn the raw open-ocean swell into the breaking wave height at your exact spot. Refreshed every few hours.
What does it show?
You can mix and match several slide formats: 2-Day Detail (an hourly breakdown of waves, wind, tide, and session ratings), 7-Day Outlook (the full week at a glance with the best sessions ranked), and Local Insights (a personalized read on the day's conditions and the best times to paddle out, written in plain surf language). Add, remove, and reorder slides from the portal, and each can show a different spot.
Is the screen readable in sunlight?
Yes. E-ink reflects light like paper, so it actually gets easier to read in bright sun. No glare, no backlight, sharp from across the room.
What does always-on mean?
Unlike a phone or tablet that goes dark, the e-ink screen holds its image 24/7 with no power draw. No wake button, no timeout, no loading spinner, just your latest surf forecast on the wall, ready the moment you glance at it.
